Dr. Jim Wayland is a psychotherapist in private practice 25 years focusing on adults and adult issues. His approach to psychotherapy is known for offering positive results to people who have been struggling with significant life-issues and emotional discouragement. He has found that most often there are two levels of life-issues; the presenting issue and the life-long issue which is usually not the presenting issue. The presenting issue is the issue that brings a person to therapy. The life-long issue that is the reason many people continue to have problems, fears, and feelings of trauma outside of psychotherapy. These issues are from one’s past and may include a history of abuse, life-long low self-esteem, family of origin issues, e.g., loss of family connections and abandonment. Regardless of the focus of therapy life-long issues must also be explored and addressed for successful resolution and completion of psychotherapy. |
