Understanding EMDR

  Psychotherapy
Biofeedback     EMDR is an acronym for Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a psychotherapeutic treatment that can successfully help those who want to overcome significant life issues.  EMDR has helped those who have:

the emotional and physical effects of crime victimization
          depression
          anxiety
addictions (sex, alcohol, drug, gambling, etc.)
          phobias
          issues of self-esteem
          chronic pain management

EMDR is a powerful psychotherapy procedure which stimulates the brain's information processing system. Using EMDR, the amount of cognitive (talk) therapy is substantially reduced while improving both the recovering and dealing of old, recurring psychological material.  People often achieve therapeutic goals at a faster rate, and with recognizable changes that remain basically stable over time.

I have worked with many people suffering chronic pain, stress, depression and anxiety.  EMDR has been very effective in helping reduce symptoms while allowing significant improvement over various emotional and physical functions of the body.  This includes the emotional "holding" on to pain following an injury due to the emotional trauma of that injury.  Overall, it has been noted that EMDR helps in healing both physical ailments and emotional issues.

If you are interested in know more about how EMDR is used in my office, please call me.  We will arrange a time for explanation and a demonstration of EMDR.
